Download. Compare. Build.
Every catalog entry points to an official release or a clearly labeled local copy. Use the project release notes to choose the right platform and architecture.
1. Choose your release
Open the catalog and filter by operating system. “Official” takes you to the upstream project; “Local copy” downloads a file hosted here.
2. Calculate SHA-256
Replace FILE with the downloaded filename. Compare the full 64-character result with the catalog or SHA256SUMS.txt.
Linux: sha256sum FILE macOS: shasum -a 256 FILE Windows: Get-FileHash .\FILE -Algorithm SHA256
3. Check the original source
A checksum confirms that a file matches a known value. For stronger origin verification, compare with the project’s own checksum and signature instructions. Do not run a file if the values differ.
